Kombi Celebrations & The Starlight Children’s Foundation: Wishes can come true Nick meets Mick (Fanning that is)
Meet ‘Team Nick and Mick’:
What a heart warming way to spend a gorgeous day at Manly beach. We were stoked to be involved with the crew from the Starlight Children’s Foundation, Australia to make this adorable young man Nick’s wish come true – to drive in a VW Kombi and have a surf with his surf idol and world champion Mick Fanning.
The day started at 7.30am with Nick and his family being picked up by myself and Steve in Florence the kombi, taking them all to North Steyne for a surf. They spent over an hour and half in the water together with Mick giving Nick and his cousin some valuable tips.
As if that wasn’t enough excitement for the boys, when they came out of the water Mick said “Right lets go shopping” and took the boys off to the Ripcurl Store on Manly corso where Nick received superstar treatment and was presented with a very special gift from Mick, his board he surfed on during the Portugal tour which he’d had signed by some of the current surfing greats including; Kelly Slater, Joel Parkinson, Owen Wright and many more. Nick and his family were such an amazing family to work with and look after today, and we were proud to be such a big part of their very special day.
… and Mick Fanning? well what can we say in one word LEGEND! nothing was too much for this champion, he was AMAZING with the kids taking time out from his busy schedule it was precious and wonderful to see thanks also for making Mr Kombi Celebrations aka Steve’s dream come true too :).
The work carried out by the Starlight Children’s Foundation, Australia is not only inspirational and emotional but when you are involved in an event like this it is extremely humbling and uplifting. These volunteers do such an amazing job and we were proud to be involved today, in a day that Nick will never forget. Thanks to Starlight’s amazing supporters, Nick’s Wish has now been granted! Nick got to meet Mick.
